What It Means To Collaborate With Hatchlight Studios

Hatchlight is an independent studio built around deliberate, sustainable development. We work at a pace that allows room for life outside of work, which means projects intentionally take longer.

Collaboration here is structured around profit sharing, not deferred payment or retroactive wages. Work contributed during development is not paid a set amount later. Instead, contributions are tracked and compensated through a commensurate percentage of project profits if and when those projects succeed.

This means collaborators must be able to support themselves independently while projects are in development. In return, contributors share directly in the long-term success of the work they help create, proportional to their measured contribution.

This isn’t a traditional job posting. It’s an invitation to collaborate with people who value depth, patience, and long-term thinking over speed or short-term output.

What To Expect

Collaboration with Hatchlight requires comfort with uncertainty and long-term thinking. There are no guaranteed timelines or payouts, and progress can be uneven as ideas are tested and refined.

This work is best suited to people who enjoy contributing thoughtfully, taking ownership of their craft, and building toward something over time rather than optimizing for short-term output.

If you’re looking for immediate compensation, fixed schedules, or a traditional studio structure, this likely won’t be a good fit, and that’s okay.
